Who do I contact if I am interested in applying for a position at Cedardale Groveland Day Camp?
Please fill out the staff/volunteer application and email, fax or mail it to the Camp Director, if you are interested in applying for a position.
Do I need references along with my application?
Yes, three references (no relatives) over the age of 18 are required from each applicant. Applicants may not put down other staff members as a reference. These references should preferably be from someone who has supervised you interacting with children.
Do I need to interview for a position?
Once we receive your completed application packet and three references, the Director will contact you to set up an interview, if there are positions available that you qualify for. Please note that you are not guaranteed an interview.
What are the expectations of Life Guards and are there special requirements?
Life Guards are required to have a current Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR certification. The life guards may teach swimming lessons in the morning and life guard in the afternoon and/or life guard all day long. Some of the duties the waterfront staff are responsible for are maintaining the pool areas and testing the pool. Life Guards should also be available to guard for additional hours –evenings and weekends – for Cedardale Groveland.
How long is the camp season?
The camp season is typically 8 weeks during the summer. In addition, all staff members are required to attend our open house and all staff members are required to attend a pre-camp orientation. Staff members are hired for the entire season. Life Guards should be available to work before the camp season starts and after the camp season ends.
What are staff member’s hours?
In general the staff is expected to be at camp every weekday between 9:00a.m and 4p.m. Hours may vary depending on the position at camp. Additional hours may be required.
Is there a camp uniform?
The staff is expected to wear their camp staff shirt every Monday and on Family Nights throughout the summer. The staff shirts are issued during the Open House. Khaki shorts are to be worn every Monday, for the two Family Nights and during the Open House. Sneakers are to be worn by all camp staff.
Staff dress is gone over during the pre-camp orientation.
